Boating Hazards

As boating season kicks into high gear, the Geist Lake Coalition wishes everyone a fun and safe summer. We have experienced a considerable amount of rain in the past week, leading to large amounts of debris making their way into the reservoir. Some hazards are visible while others hide below the surface. Please be vigilant when boating, especially on this upcoming Memorial Day weekend.

The Geist Conservancy District, once established, has proposed hiring a Lake Manager to handle the day-to-day issues that arise. One of the responsibilities of the Lake Manager would be to mark hazardous areas and remove debris from the reservoir. If you see a large log or other floating object in the reservoir, you would call the Lake Manager. Currently, there is no responsible party or funds dedicated to these important safety concerns. This is just one example of what we are working on to save the future of Geist and making your lake time safer and more enjoyable!

We appreciate your support and are looking forward to a great summer of boating, fishing, and water sports!
