Last month, we had a very successful Geist Cleanup Corporate Action Day as the community joined together to help remove trash in and around Geist Reservoir. On September 23, nearly 50 volunteers came out to help us #SaveGeist! We applaud every individual, company, and group who continues to support our mission to address and uphold the longevity of Geist Reservoir.
When we all come together, we can make a lasting difference in our community and water quality! Breakfast was provided ahead of a busy day, as well as gloves, trash bags, trash grabbers, dumpsters, and maps for all volunteers. Participating volunteers were encouraged to bring or rent boats for a smoother cleanup process.
While Geist Reservoir has been enjoyed by Indiana residents since 1943, the 79-year-old reservoir needs ecological attention and collective support to survive. To properly care for and maintain Geist Reservoir, we aim to give the lake the attention it deserves to benefit current and future community members and homeowners in the area. It’s important to follow best practices for long-term lake care, which include routine cleanup days dedicated to preserving the health and beauty of Geist Reservoir.
